The Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development (Area LCDA) councillors and the council boss Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya are at daggers drawn due to an alleged disparaging move, which clearly debased the council legislators before his appointees.

According to  an anonymous source the legislators at this particular locality were taken aback by the fact that the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG) Comrade Alani Babatunde was accorded a special treat, way beyond that of the elected lawmakers, who were equally elected like the Chairman by the people as it pertains purchase of vehicles.

In total the vehicles procured for the legislators cost 40milliion naira while that of the SLG alone is 36 million naira. This development has sown a seed of disparity amidst the tiers of government at LCDA and might degenerate further if nothing drastic is done to address the anomaly.

The source who pleaded anonymity disclosed to SunriseNews that: “By ranking in the political space the Leader of the council being an elected member ought to be accorded his dues owing to the fact that he and other colleagues of his are elected members and being the face of the council’s legislators but this is not so in Igando-Ikotun LCDA.

“Imagine that his (Leader) vehicle cost 11 million naira while that of the SLG who is an appointee of the council chairman is valued at 36 million naira.

“What makes the matter worse is that the entire worth of vehicles purchased to ease the councillors mobility is 40 million naira, a little above what was used to purchase a vehicle for the SLG!

“Considering the fact that they have been serving a year before the SLG’s appointment, it is clearly an absurd and unjust treatment for the legislators.

“This highhandedness recorded at the council has being the root cause of disaffection, as the most important fragment of decision making in the locality gets disparaged, it is not a good omen at all as it does not portray the council boss as a fair personality.”

Meanwhile in a statement issued by Comrade Oseni A.S the SSA to the Chairman on Media, while presenting the Toyota Highlander Jeep 2016 to the SLG the council boss was quoted saying “I want to urge the SLG to see these car as part of his work tools and judiciously Channel into positive use,”

The source added that it is rather unfortunate that the council boss also arrogates to himself an undeserved glory as the upgrade of Egan health centre, water project at Ijegun primary school and others around the area, which were projects executed by a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), he now claims as some of his achievements in office.
