Lagos: Five die, others injured in accidents

Five persons were on Tuesday killed and two injured in two accidents in Lagos.

Sunrise News  learnt that two people died at Ogba, Lagos when a Toyota Camry with number plate AAA171AR crashed into a building around 12am.

The other three were crushed by a truck marked LSD461XD around 5pm at Agboju, along Badagry Expressway.

It was gathered that the Ogba accident occurred at Maternity area on College Road, near Monday evening’s accident scene, which involved a truck that killed a nursing mother and injured another.

It was gathered that the car veered off the road and crashed into the gate of a house.

A witness said besides the driver, three passengers were in the car at the time of the accident.

The driver and the passenger who occupied the front seat reportedly died. The other two at the back seat were said to have sustained injuries and were taken to hospital.

It was not immediately clear what might have caused the accident, but unconfirmed reports said the occupants might have been returning from a club.

The Agboju accident was said to have occurred after the truck entered a pothole and lost control.

Two persons were said to have died on the spot. The third died in hospital.

A mob was said to have attempted to lynch the driver and his motor boy, but policemen rescued them.

Police spokesman Bala Elkana, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP), confirmed the accidents.
