The Plateau State Police Command, on Saturday, confirmed the killing of one person along Mararaban Jama’a-Riyom road in Riyom Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP Alabo Alfred, said it mobilised its officers as soon as reports reached it of the possible attack.
According to him, the Command received information on 10/06/2022 at about 2000hrs, that some unknown hoodlums were firing along Mararaban Jama’a, Riyom road not Science School Kuru Jos.
He said upon receipt of the report, a high-powered team of policemen and other security agencies responded swiftly and mobilised to the scene of the incident but, on reaching there, the gunmen had fled leaving behind one person dead and three others injured.
He said the injured persons were conveyed immediately to the hospital for treatment, adding that the police are still on the trail of the fleeing suspects,
According to him, the state Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew N. Onyeka, appealed to members of the public to go about their lawful business as normalcy has been restored in the area.
